The Final escape

Death Row Inmate Chronicles Life Experience in New Autobiography

In The Final Escape, David Paul Hammer chronicles the events of his life-gone-wrong in a direct and brutal way. It is the story of a man who can be as cruel as he is kind.

The Final Escape is the complex story of a man who has been incarcerated for the last 30 years, with the exception of two brief periods in October 1981 and October 1983 when he was on the “outside” as an escapee, which earned him the label of “Public Enemy Number One” in the state of Oklahoma.

Hammer bares his life for all to see with vivid clarity and poignancy as he details the physical and sexual abuse he suffered as a child and his later experiences as a notorious con man, prisoner and murderer. As readers wrestle with the painful truths of Hammer’s life, they quickly realize he accepts full responsibility for his actions and the pain he has inflicted on others.

Hammer’s knack for storytelling transfixes readers with embarrassingly funny tales of outwitting his captors, of living a life behind bars and waiting to die on death row. He “reveals the sincere spiritual conversion which has altered his existence” and affected others in a positive way, as well.

Hammer, age 48, was placed on death row after being convicted of the murder of a fellow prisoner. David spends his time attempting to make amends where possible and fighting child abuse. He is the co-founder of a Christmas card project that has raised thousands of dollars for children at risk. He is also involved with other social justice issues. He has continued his education at his own expense during the years of his incarceration.

Available through Amazon.com. Proceeds from the sale of this books will go to various charities to help prevent child abuse.
